Hey guys, I know this is random but I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I'm American, but I'll be in London for a week in September and I want to catch a few shows, if possible. The only problem is I have no idea what bands are playing or where. Does anyone know a good ticketing/listing site for concerts and shows taking place in and around the London area? Or specific rock bars/pubs to check out? I tried ticketmaster UK but it's rubbish.

I'm open to any types of music, but rock bands in particular.

Thanks so much!

www.gigsandtours.com for general gig tickets.
http://londonist.com/ for various things going on
http://www.timeout.com/london/ has loads of things to do in general and has music listings
http://drownedinsound.com/gigs has some music listings too

Rock pub/bars off the top of my head are Ben Crouches off Oxford St and Belushi's in Camden.

Try: www.stargreen.co.uk and ticketweb.co.uk for tickets
-The Barfly website
-HMV for bigger venues
-O2 Academy venues
-Meanfiddler
-NME website
-Xfm website (both do tickets also)
-GigJunkie website

If I think of any more I'll add them too!
PM me if you want any more info as I'm pretty local and go to gigs in London v often

Getting hold of Time Out (or their website is a good general start and you should do this soon as gigs in the Autumn are already being advertised now and some may sell out.
The Forum in Kentish Town and the Academy in Brixton are both mid-sized venues that have pretty cool gigs. The Dublin Castle in Camden is a good pub and also small music venue. There are lots of points of contact in camden in tems of shops/pubs/venues that will be able to help with whats going locally.
I also subscribe to the gigjunkie website. its free and you can select any bands/venues you are interested in and they email you directly when anything comes up.
